Water supply across several parts of the city will remain disrupted for 24 hours as interconnection work is being carried out at the Pench-4 water treatment plant. According to the Nagpur Water Supply Department and Orange City Water (OCW), the supply will remain shut from 10 a.m. on October 9 until 10 a.m. on October 10.
As a result, 18 major water tanks in the city will not be operational, affecting hundreds of localities. The affected tanks include Nara, Nari, Jaripatka, Nara Nasru, Laxminagar New, Ghorpade, Ayodhya Nagar Vidhansabha, Ayodhya Nagar Prasthalit, Joginagar Ambedkar, Indora 2,3, Amrut Wanjari Nagar 2, Hudkeshwar and Narsala Direct Tank.
The work involves pipeline interconnection between the old 1,400 mm line and the new 1,400 mm line near the Padmapur area, as part of the ongoing upgrades at the Pench-4 water treatment plant.
Water supply to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) was also cut off, causing significant difficulties for patients, doctors and hostel residents. By afternoon, the situation came under partial control, but many patients and their attendants had to rely on private tankers. Dialysis services and other medical operations were disrupted.
Authorities have urged citizens to use stored water carefully and avoid wastage until the supply resumes on Friday morning.
