The Maharashtra state government has cleared a major hurdle in the ambitious “Golden Outer Ring Road” project being developed through the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA). HUDCO (Housing and Urban Development Corporation) has approved a financial package of ₹4,800 crore to fund key phases of the project, including the construction of four major truck and bus terminals along the ring corridor.
The project, designed to ease traffic congestion and promote industrial growth around Nagpur, had been facing delays due to financial constraints. With HUDCO’s funding approval, work is now expected to progress rapidly. Land acquisition for the project is being handled by NMRDA across Hingna, Mouda, Kamptee, and Parseoni tehsils, where large tracts have already been earmarked for development.
The 99 villages covered under this project span about 1,697 hectares, where road alignment, terminal development, and other key infrastructure works will take shape. The Golden Ring Road will connect major national highways including NH-44, NH-53, and NH-7, creating a vital transport and logistics loop around the city.
Once completed, the Outer Ring Road will drastically reduce heavy vehicle traffic within Nagpur city limits, enhance connectivity for industrial zones, and boost regional economic activity. The NMRDA has stated that the project will include modern truck and bus terminals equipped with essential facilities and will significantly strengthen Nagpur’s position as a major logistics hub in Central India.
