As the festive season nears, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has intensified its crackdown on food adulteration in Nagpur. Raids conducted in the Itwari and Mangalwari areas led to the seizure of adulterated edible oil worth approximately ?10 lakh.
Officials found that several traders were mixing low-grade substances with branded edible oils and selling them at higher prices. The seized oil samples have been sent for laboratory testing, and legal action will follow once the reports confirm the adulteration.
The FDA has launched a month-long campaign to ensure food safety during Diwali. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant, check food quality before purchase, and report any suspicious products or malpractices.
Meanwhile, oil traders in the city have been cautioned to maintain transparency and quality. Authorities have warned that strict action, including license suspension, will be taken against those found guilty of food adulteration.
