Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has announced a major relief for regular bus commuters, especially those who travel daily for work or employment. The corporation will now offer monthly and quarterly passes on all its e-buses, similar to those available on regular buses. A circular to this effect has been issued to all regional managers and divisional controllers across the state.
At present, MSRTC operates a fleet of 5,150 buses, including 448 earlier introduced e-buses and 50 newly added ‘Shivai’ electric buses. Despite the availability of trains and private travel services, passengers continue to prefer ST buses due to their punctuality and safety. The corporation also provides fare concessions to various sections of society, including freedom fighters, senior citizens, women, students, and sportspersons, making it one of the most people-friendly transport services in the state.
Until now, the pass facility was not available on e-buses, which offer a more comfortable and air-conditioned travel experience. Following strong demand from office-goers and regular passengers, MSRTC has decided to extend pass benefits to all e-buses, except the premium E-Shivneri service.
According to the new policy, commuters can now avail a 30-day pass by paying for 20 days, and a 90-day pass by paying for 60 days. These passes will also be valid on ordinary and semi-luxury buses, offering greater flexibility and savings for regular travelers.
