Acting under the ongoing campaign “Operation Thunder – Together for a Drug-Free Society” initiated by Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal, the Pachpaoli Police have registered a case against two individuals for illegally operating a hookah parlour at Hammers Café & Restrolounge, Kamal Chowk.
According to the police, based on a tip-off, a raid was conducted between 11:30 pm on October 13 and 3 am on October 14, 2025, on the fourth floor of Hammers Café & Restrolounge within the Pachpaoli Police Station limits. During the raid, the accused — Ranjit Sevagram Koche (36), a resident of Tekanaka, and Jonty Solomon Felix (26), a resident of Martin Nagar, Jaripatka — were found supplying prohibited tobacco-based hookah products to customers.
The investigation revealed that the duo was running the hookah parlour illegally for personal profit. Police seized materials used for hookah consumption, including pots, various tobacco flavours, and other equipment, collectively worth ₹13,500.
A case has been registered against the accused under Section 274 of the BNS and Sections 5, 7, and 20 of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003, as amended by the Maharashtra Amendment Act, 2018.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of DCP Rahul Madane (Zone 3) and ACP Shweta Khade (Lakadganj Division), by Senior PI Baburao Raut, PSI Ranjit Majgaonkar, and their team from Pachpaoli Police Station. Further investigation is underway.
