Nagpur: A 37-year-old divorced woman has accused her former husband of sexually exploiting her on the pretext of rekindling their relationship and remarrying her. The woman filed a complaint at the Dhantoli Police Station, alleging that the accused deceived her, forced her to undergo an abortion, and later married another woman.
According to police reports, the complainant had married the accused in March 2014. However, within two months of their marriage, he allegedly began to quarrel, physically assault her, and accuse her of infidelity. Unable to bear the harassment, the woman sought a divorce in 2017.
In July 2023, the man reportedly re-established contact with his ex-wife through Facebook and later through phone conversations. He assured her of a fresh start and promised to remarry her. Trusting his words, the woman resumed communication, during which the accused allegedly established physical relations with her, resulting in a pregnancy.
When informed about the pregnancy, the accused pressured her into undergoing an abortion, police said. Following the procedure, his attitude changed—he refused to marry her and allegedly began threatening her. The woman later discovered that he was involved with other women and had married someone else.
Based on the complaint, Dhantoli Police have registered a case of rape and deception against the accused, and further investigation is underway.
