Lakadganj Police have registered an extortion case against two men for allegedly threatening a businessman with a firearm and demanding ?60 lakh over a land deal dispute.
The accused have been identified as Santosh alias Bunty Rampal Shahu and Rajdeep alias Goldie Shahu, both residents of Small Factory Area, Old Bagadganj, Nagpur.
According to the police, the complainant, Chandrashekhar Shivcharan Prajapati (38), who owns an iron shop and resides at Pola Maidan, New Mangalwari, Shahu Mohalla, Binaki, stated that on May 25, 2020, around 12 noon, the accused duo along with two unidentified men intercepted him at Plot No. 44A, Small Factory Area, under the Lakadganj police limits.
The group allegedly abused him and pointed a gun, demanding ?60 lakh in ransom related to a land transaction.
Following the complaint, the police registered an offence under Sections 385, 386, 387, and 34 of the BNS, along with relevant sections of the Arms Act (Sections 3 and 25), in Crime No. 890/2025 at the Lakadganj Police Station.
The investigation, led by Assistant Police Inspector Azhar Sheikh under the supervision of PSI Suraj Kolhe, is currently underway. Police have launched a manhunt to trace and arrest the accused involved in the case.
