Nagpur: A 25-year-old youth lost his life, and another sustained serious injuries in a late-night road accident near Chandika Nagar, Ramteshwari, under the jurisdiction of Ajni Police Station, on October 28, around 11:40 PM.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Bhavesh Gopal Talekar (25), a resident of Ayodhya Nagar, Hudkeshwar. Bhavesh was traveling with friends — Shreyash Rajesh Patil, Nihar Rajesh Asatkar, and Shreyash Keshav Gaikwad — in a car (registration number MH 46 P 2056) heading from Besa towards Mane Wada.
When the vehicle reached near Celebration Lawn, Chandika Nagar, driver Shreyash Gaikwad allegedly drove the car at a high speed in a rash and negligent manner, lost control, and crashed into a tree. Bhavesh Talekar and Nihar Asatkar sustained severe injuries in the collision.
Both were rushed to GMC (Medical) Hospital, where doctors declared Bhavesh dead on arrival. Nihar is currently undergoing treatment at Neurone Hospital.
Based on a complaint lodged by Ganesh Anantrao Talekar (47), Ajni Police have registered a case against the driver under Sections 281, 106(1), 151(1) of the BNS, along with Sections 134 and 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
