The Maharashtra Government has sanctioned Rs 315 crore to the Nagpur Municipal Corporation for development of Nagpur city. The funds will speed up the the work on construction of roads, water supply, drainage system, sanitation, guards and lighting systems.
The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) had submitted a proposal to the government recently. The funds were sanctioned to facilitate the development of the city, as planned by the NMC.
The internal roads are being concretised, old pipeline for the drainage system are being changed, developing gardens and sports grounds are being developed by the NMC. Smart toilets, lighting projects, developing gardens and waste management systems are on the priority list of NMC. The tenders for these works will be floated in November’s first week. NMC has also planned to monitor quality of the proposed construction works.
Special attention is being paid to water supply and sanitation works in the East and North Nagpur. Traffic congestions in Western Nagpur is also under consideration.
Nagpur’s Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has thanked CM Devendra Fadnavis and Urban Developmen Minister DCM Eknath Shinde for making the funds available for Nagpur development.
