Nagpur: The Chitnavis Centre is set to host a unique cultural evening titled ‘Crossroads: A Kathak-Flamenco-Lavani Project’ on November 1 at 6:30 pm at the Banyan Hall. The event promises an extraordinary confluence of rhythm, storytelling, and tradition by bringing together three dynamic dance forms — Kathak from India, Flamenco from Spain, and Lavani, Maharashtra’s vibrant folk dance.
The performance will feature acclaimed artistes Aditi Bhagwat, an internationally renowned Kathak exponent, and Bettina Castaño, a celebrated Flamenco dancer from Spain. Together, they will explore the deep-rooted connections between the two classical forms, both known for their powerful rhythm, intricate footwork, emotive storytelling, and expressive gestures.
Adding a regional touch, the incorporation of Lavani brings a burst of local flavour and energy, creating a bridge between Maharashtra’s folk traditions and Spain’s fiery Flamenco. The collaboration aims to highlight the shared gypsy spirit and emotional intensity that underpin all three dance styles.
‘Crossroads’ promises an evening rich in music, rhythm, and cross-cultural harmony, offering the audience a rare opportunity to witness how diverse traditions can unite through the universal language of dance.
