Nagpur -Three residents have launched an indefinite hunger strike at Samvidhan Chowk, demanding swift action and justice in a massive land grab case allegedly involving eight acres of property in Gorewada valued between ₹70 and ₹80 crore.
The protesters — Pramila Gaikwad, Ramesh Shankarrao Jadhav, and Sushila Devidas Gaikwad — have accused alleged land mafias Dilip Gwalbanshi, Deepak Dubey, and Rashmi Joshi of orchestrating the fraudulent acquisition.
According to Jadhav, the controversy dates back to 2004, when Gwalbanshi allegedly created a fake identity under the name “Shankar Shravan Jadhav” and transferred the land to this fictitious person. Although a case was registered and Gwalbanshi was arrested at the time, he was released within 20 days.
Subsequently, Deepak Dubey and Rashmi Joshi of the Netaji Cooperative Society allegedly obtained illegal layout approval with the assistance of certain officials from the Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) and went on to sell plots on the disputed land.
The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) had earlier registered a case against the accused; however, the investigation was later transferred to Mankapur Police Station, where, according to the complainants, no concrete action has been taken since.
The protestors claim that despite multiple appeals to political leaders and law enforcement authorities, their pleas for justice have gone unheard. Several plot buyers who were reportedly duped in the deal have also joined the hunger strike in solidarity, urging authorities to intervene and ensure accountability in the case.
