The stretch of road adjoining the Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) area, connecting to the CGO Complex and Seminary Hills, has turned into a perilous path for daily commuters as the surface has completely eroded and deep potholes cover the entire route. The steep incline of the road adds to the danger, making even a minor slip potentially life-threatening for riders, especially two-wheeler users.
Residents, office-goers, and school buses using this road daily have expressed serious concern over the deteriorating condition and the lack of timely maintenance. The route serves as a crucial link between several major localities, including Sadar, Futala, Walkers Street, Civil Lines, and Seminary Hills, which makes its current state even more alarming.
Continuous rainfall and prolonged neglect by civic authorities have worsened the problem, turning potholes into crater-like depressions. Two-wheeler riders, in particular, face constant risk while trying to navigate the uneven surface or dodge the deep pits.
Many commuters have reported frequent minor accidents and injuries on the stretch. The situation becomes especially hazardous after dusk, as poor lighting and low visibility make it nearly impossible to spot potholes in time.
Despite multiple complaints, no repair work has yet been undertaken. Frustrated citizens have urged authorities to act before a serious mishap occurs.
“Every day, we witness people losing balance or vehicles getting damaged. It’s unacceptable that such an important route is left in this state. Authorities must act immediately,” a daily commuter told The Hitavada.
Locals have demanded urgent resurfacing and repair of the road, warning that until corrective measures are taken, the stretch will continue to remain a danger zone for all who travel through it.
