Nagpur: Two persons were killed after their motorcycle was hit by a speeding truck near Arya Yard in Pardi area late on Monday night. The Pardi police have registered a case against the truck driver for negligent and dangerous driving.
The deceased have been identified as Harshvardhan Gopal Bohra (45) and Dipen Omprakash Sonone (24), residents of Sainagar, Pardi. On November 3, around 9:15 pm, both were travelling on a Bajaj Platina motorcycle (MH-49-BF-3211) towards Baradwari when a rashly driven truck (RJ-11-GB-1752) rammed into their vehicle.
The collision threw both riders onto the road, leaving them seriously injured. Bystanders rushed them to Mayo Hospital, where doctors declared Harshvardhan dead on arrival. Dipen, who was undergoing treatment at Seven Star Hospital, succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of November 4 around 3 am.
Following a complaint lodged by Komal Omprakash Sonone (28), PSI Chalurkar of Pardi Police Station registered an offence against the truck driver under Sections 106(1), 281, and 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 134 and 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Police are verifying the driver’s identity and vehicle ownership details while the investigation continues.
