Nagpur: After an unusually warm start to November, the long-awaited winter chill has finally arrived in Nagpur. The city experienced a minimum temperature of 12.2°C, marking the coldest morning of the season so far. In the eastern part of Vidarbha, Gondia recorded an even lower temperature at 10.4°C, making it the coldest spot in the region.
The cool spell, which arrived later than expected, has now spread across Vidarbha, signalling the true onset of winter. Typically, Nagpur begins to cool down by late October, but this year, changing weather patterns and cyclonic activity — particularly Cyclone ‘Montha’ — along with other atmospheric disturbances, delayed the seasonal shift.
With a noticeable drop in night temperatures, residents have begun pulling out sweaters, shawls, and blankets, while the early morning breeze has turned crisp and chilly. The sudden temperature dip has also brought gusty winds, adding to the wintry feel but causing slight discomfort for morning walkers and commuters.
Meteorologists suggest that the mercury is likely to dip further in the coming days, as the delayed winter finally takes hold across central India.
