Nagpur: In a tragic incident that has left the medical community in shock, 25-year-old Samruddhi Krishnakant Pandey, daughter of IPS officer Krishnakant Pandey, DIG, CRPF Pune, was found dead at her residence in Manjira Apartments, Shiv Kailash, Nagpur, on Tuesday evening.
Samruddhi, a first-year dermatology student at AIIMS Nagpur, is suspected to have died by suicide. Preliminary reports suggest that she had been experiencing severe mental stress in recent days.
The incident came to light around 7 pm on November 12, when her roommate returned and found the main door locked from inside. Entering through the back door, she discovered Samruddhi hanging from a ceiling fan and immediately informed the police.
A team from Sonegaon Police Station arrived at the scene, conducted a panchnama, and sent the body for postmortem examination at a government hospital.
The news has cast a deep pall of sorrow over the AIIMS Nagpur campus, where students and faculty members remain stunned by the sudden loss of a promising young doctor. While the reason behind her extreme step is still unclear, investigators are exploring the possibility of academic and psychological pressure as contributing factors.
Police have initiated an inquiry and are recording statements from her classmates and close acquaintances to determine the circumstances that led to the incident.
The tragedy has sparked renewed discussions on mental health awareness and stress management among medical students, as colleagues and mentors mourn the untimely death of a bright and compassionate young woman.
