The State Election Commission (SEC) has issued a sharply revised timetable for voter list preparation across 29 municipal corporations, directing the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) to publish its draft voter list on November 20 — a key step ahead of the 2025 civic elections.
The new schedule, released on November 13, replaces the earlier programme announced on November 4. As per the revised plan, the draft rolls—prepared on the basis of the latest Assembly electoral rolls—must be made public by NMC on November 20, inviting objections and suggestions from citizens.
Residents, political parties and aspiring candidates will have till November 27 to submit corrections. Following scrutiny, NMC must dispose of all objections and publish the final ward-wise voter lists by December 5. Officials say this deadline is crucial for Nagpur, as the final rolls influence polling booth allocation, candidate eligibility and the strategy of major parties in several politically sensitive wards.
After finalisation of the rolls, the list of polling stations has to be published on December 8, and polling station-wise voter lists on December 12. The SEC has emphasised zero delays, noting that multiple corporations—including NMC—have already exceeded two years under administrators.
The Commission has also asked NMC to immediately report any technical difficulties via email and contact designated officers in urgent cases.
With the civic polls likely early next year, the revised voter-list calendar signals that Nagpur’s election preparations are now formally underway.
