The examination system at Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University appears to be in complete disarray. After a prolonged delay, the university has finally announced the winter examinations, with supplementary exams for students with pending backlogs scheduled to begin on November 26.
However, several errors are emerging as students attempt to fill out their application forms. Many students report that their subjects are not appearing in the system, while others are seeing incorrect subject mappings. Despite releasing the exam schedule for backlog students, the university has yet to publish the timetable for regular examinations, adding to the uncertainty.
The university has issued a helpline number for application-related and technical concerns, claiming it is available 24 hours a day. In reality, colleges report that the number remains unreachable. Even during office hours, calls go unanswered, leaving students and institutions without assistance.
The issues reportedly began after the university handed over its online operations to a new software company. Although the application process is currently underway—with November 15 as the last date—colleges say the portal is not displaying subjects correctly as they attempt to upload student data.
For some students, only one subject is visible; for others, subjects are missing altogether. Compounding the problem, the payment gateway has not yet been activated. Colleges have been instructed to collect fees between November 16 and 18—a very narrow window likely to create further complications.
Typically, the winter exam schedule is released all at once. Backlog exams for the second, fourth, and sixth semesters are conducted first, followed by regular semester exams. The timetable helps students plan their preparation. This year, however, the announced schedule excludes the regular semester timetable, leaving students confused. When they reached out to their respective colleges, they were told to wait for further updates.
