Nagpur: In a major action under the citywide Operation Shakti initiative aimed at dismantling human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation networks, the Social Security Wing of the Crime Branch raided Exotic Spa & Salon near the Government Medical College & Hospital, Ajni Road, on Monday evening.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Social Security Department and the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit conducted surveillance between 4.40 pm and 11.20 pm on November 24. During the operation, officers raided Classic Amber Apartment, where the spa was functioning.
Police detained two women — Pratima Ramesh Badge (42), resident of Yogeshwar Nagar, Dighori, and Kiran Dayalu Uke (36), resident of Ambedkar Nagar, Dattawadi — for allegedly running prostitution activities for monetary gain. Investigators found that the accused were providing a place for customers and compelling young women into prostitution.
The team successfully rescued one victim girl from the premises.
Officials seized ₹2,500 in cash, two mobile phones, and other material worth a total of ₹27,230 during the raid. A case has been registered at Ajni Police Station under Sections 143(2)(3) of the BNS read with Sections 3, 4, 5, and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
The accused along with seized items have been handed over to Ajni Police for further action.
The operation was executed under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint CP Navinchandra Reddy, Additional CP (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, DCP (Detection) Rahul Makanikar, and ACP (Crime Branch) Abhijeet Patil. The team comprised PI Rahul Shire, PSI Shivaji Nannavare, HC Laxman Chaure, Kishor Thakre, PC Nitin Vasne, Kamlesh Kshirsagar, and women police personnel Lata Gawai and Aarti Chavan.
