Nagpur: A major financial fraud has surfaced in Rana Pratap Nagar, where two men allegedly conned a construction businessman and several investors of ₹2.18 crore by falsely promising substantial returns through commodity and share market investments.
Complainant Kapilkumar Noshon Meshram (39), who operates ‘Sanrachna Associates’ in Trimurti Nagar, told police that he became acquainted with the accused — Manoj Dharamchand Nandanwar and Vijay Kisan Mahurle — through earlier property dealings.
According to the FIR, Nandanwar claimed that he and his wife managed large-scale investments in commodity trading, futures and options, and guaranteed 100% profits within six months. Meshram invested ₹38 lakh after receiving assurances and was issued a post-dated cheque of ₹76 lakh.
Police said the accused later expanded the fraud, securing additional investments from Meshram’s relatives and friends. Altogether, they collected ₹2,18,72,123, issued high-value post-dated cheques, and then vanished without returning any amount.
Following the inquiry, Rana Pratap Nagar Police booked the accused under Sections 316(2), 318(4), 3(5) of the BNS and relevant provisions of the MPID Act, 1999.
Police also appealed to citizens who may have been duped by the same individuals or their firm to approach the police station with relevant documents or contact officers Pankaj Bondse (7620393050) or PSI Manohar Dandale (9637731272).
