In a major relief for homeowners across Maharashtra, State Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Thursday declared that the government will issue free property cards for all houses constructed before October 15, 2024. The announcement was made during a series of BJP campaign rallies held in Paratwada, Morshi and Shendurjanaghat in Amravati district.
Bawankule said that although the processing cost amounts to nearly ₹4,000 per property, citizens will not be required to pay anything. The government plans to carry out an aerial survey of all existing properties using aircraft from the Revenue Department—an exercise he described as unprecedented since the British era.
The initiative will ensure that residents receive both property cards and 7/12 extracts for their holdings free of cost, including those who have mortgaged their assets while building their homes.
Highlighting ongoing efforts to strengthen public safety, Bawankule announced plans to set up CCTV networks in Achalpur and Paratwada. He cited a recent case where police were able to trace a missing boy in Rajasthan through CCTV footage, underscoring the importance of surveillance infrastructure.
On the political front, Bawankule hinted strongly that former minister Pravin Pote is likely to be BJP’s candidate for the local self-government constituency. Conveying messages from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and State BJP chief Ravindra Chavan, he urged Pote to take charge of the upcoming election campaign, assuring him of full support from party councillors.
The rallies saw the presence of several senior leaders, including Rajya Sabha MP Dr Anil Bonde, MLAs Praveen Tayade and Kewalram Kale, former MP Navneet Rana, and former minister Pravin Pote.
