In a significant breakthrough under Operation Thunder, Crime Branch’s NDPS team arrested three individuals — including a murder-accused habitual offender — for allegedly peddling MD drugs in Kamgar Nagar during a late-night raid on Friday. The operation, carried out between 11 pm on November 28 and 2.50 am on November 29 near a scrap shop close to Gausiya Masjid, resulted in the registration of Crime No. 761/2025 under Sections 8(c), 22(c), and 29 of the NDPS Act.
The key accused, Sameer Amar Saghir Ahmed (30), is a repeat offender with 16 criminal cases, including two NDPS offences, one murder case under IPC 302, cases of preparation for dacoity, Arms Act violations, and offences involving theft, assault, and cattle-related crimes. Along with him, police arrested Imran alias Imu alias Pachpan Ahmed Saghir Ahmed (28), who has a prior case of obscene abuse and assault, and Akash Bhagirath Sayyam (26), a resident of Bhimwadi slums in Yashodhara Nagar. Police are also searching for wanted suspect Sonu Sattar Sheikh (26), a resident of Kamgar Nagar.
During the action, the police seized 85.030 grams of MD powder valued at ₹4,25,150, four mobile phones worth ₹31,000, a Honda car worth ₹3,00,000, a Royal Enfield Bullet bearing the marking “Imran 55” worth ₹2,50,000, ₹2,55,000 in cash, and additional material including an electronic weighing scale, packaging pouches, and a DVR. The total seizure amounts to ₹12,71,750.
Police officials said the raid followed a reliable tip-off indicating that the accused were engaged in drug trafficking within the Kapil Nagar limits. A surveillance team was deployed, and the suspects were intercepted in the presence of panch witnesses while following NDPS procedures. Kapil Nagar Police have registered the offence and launched further investigation to trace the absconding accused and establish the full extent of the drug network.
