A Lok Adalat will be held across all courts in Nagpur district on December 13, as directed by the National and Maharashtra State Legal Services Authorities. Courts at the district and taluka levels, as well as labour, industrial, family courts, consumer forums and other tribunals, will take part. The drive will be supervised by Principal District and Sessions Judge Dinesh P. Surana.
Civil and criminal compoundable cases, motor accident claims, land acquisition disputes, revenue cases, matrimonial issues, and bank recovery matters will be taken up. Both pending and pre-litigation cases can be settled through mutual agreement.
No fees are charged for filing cases in the Lok Adalat. Panels of judges, senior advocates and social workers will guide the parties. The awards passed are final and treated like court decrees, with no option for appeal. Litigants have been urged to submit applications to include their matters for settlement.
