As the Maharashtra Legislature’s Winter Session begins on December 8, Nagpur has been turned into a high-security zone. Security has been tightened around the Chief Minister’s residence, Mantralaya branch offices, and the entire Vidhan Bhavan complex.
Although the session lasts only eight days, over 8,000 police personnel from across the State have been deployed in the city. Along with the Nagpur City Police and units from various districts, five companies of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) have also been stationed.
To bolster security, authorities have readied five advanced vigilance vehicles, Home Guards, and 12 bomb detection and disposal teams. A special commando unit will also remain deployed throughout the session.
On Friday, the Police Commissioner reviewed the security arrangements in and around Vidhan Bhavan and assessed deployment across the city, directing all units to maintain maximum alertness. The police administration has set up a three-tier security system to ensure the Winter Session proceeds smoothly, with continuous monitoring underway.
