A shocking extortion racket has been uncovered at Nagpur Railway Station, where workers employed by contractor firm ISF Services were allegedly forced to hand over half their salaries to local goons as “protection money”.
Workers have accused Santosh Arkhel, Shubham Arkhel, Rishabh Arkhel, Shahbaaz Khan and Atendra Singh of demanding 50% of their monthly wages and threatening to break their limbs or kill them if they refused. Many said they were taken to isolated railway-side spots and terrorised with threats of assault.
Fear and harassment pushed several women workers to approach Shiv Sena Nagpur chief Nitin Tiwari, who then escalated the matter to MLC Anil Parab. Parab directed GRP SP Mangesh Shinde to take urgent action.
Tiwari later led a large protest, with hundreds of affected workers surrounding the GRP police station and demanding FIRs against the Arkhel brothers and individuals linked to the contractor.
Based on the workers’ evidence, the GRP initiated an inquiry, questioned the contractor, and ordered that the accused be barred from entering railway premises.
Further action is expected as the investigation continues.
