A shocking case of voyeurism at Nari Metro Station on Kamptee Road has once again raised serious concerns over women’s safety within the metro network. A 20-year-old college student was allegedly filmed inside the station’s women’s restroom on Thursday evening.
According to police, the student had travelled from Chhatrapati Square Metro Station to Nari after finishing college. When she entered the restroom, she noticed a man standing on the commode in the adjacent cubicle and secretly recording her on his mobile phone. Alarmed, she immediately ran out of the restroom, after which the accused fled the spot.
The victim alerted metro staff, who informed the police. Preliminary information suggests the suspect is a 24–25-year-old man wearing a mask, goggles, a blue sweater and blue jeans. Police are examining CCTV footage from the station to identify and trace him.
Panchpaoli police have registered a case of molestation and launched an investigation. The incident has once again highlighted concerns about the safety of women commuters, especially as similar cases have been reported earlier within metro premises.
