In a bizarre incident, a bar waiter died after allegedly consuming acid, mistaking it for water, while drinking alcohol at a bar in the Pardi area. The incident took place at Jeet Bar.
The deceased has been identified as Gyaneshwar Keshavrao Aswale (50), a resident of Tarodi in Wathoda. According to police, Aswale was on duty at the bar when he consumed alcohol and accidentally mixed acid, which had been kept nearby, into his drink, believing it to be water.
His condition deteriorated immediately, following which he was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital. However, he succumbed during treatment on Saturday.
Pardi police have registered a case of accidental death and have launched an inquiry into the incident.
