The main road connecting Prajapati Nagar to Transport Nagar has become a major civic concern, posing serious risks to commuters. The stretch near Kapsi, which is used daily by heavy vehicles and workers, is now covered with loose gravel and mud due to the absence of a proper asphalt surface.
The road leading towards the Maa Umiya Industrial Cooperative Society is in particularly poor condition. Frequent movement of container trucks and dumpers kicks up thick clouds of dust throughout the day, reducing visibility and settling on nearby hotels, transport offices and shops. Locals say this has led to inconvenience and growing health concerns.
The situation has worsened due to multiple infrastructure projects underway in the Pardi–Kapsi area. Construction of Nagpur Metro Phase-2 (Reach 4A) from Prajapati Nagar to Transport Nagar and NHAI flyover work on NH-53 are progressing simultaneously. Diversions and weakened road surfaces have caused heavy traffic to further damage the remaining stretch.
The issue has gained added importance after the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court took suo motu cognisance of rising air pollution in the city, identifying road dust and construction activity as key contributors.
Residents say two-wheeler riders and workers face daily risks while using this road. Until proper repairs and effective dust-control measures are implemented, they warn, this crucial logistics route will continue to remain unsafe.
