With the Nagpur Municipal Corporation elections scheduled for January 15, 2026, and polls announced for 29 municipal corporations across Maharashtra, the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has come into force, bringing stricter enforcement ahead of New Year celebrations.
Authorities have tightened checks on the illegal sale and consumption of liquor during New Year’s Eve parties. Alcohol consumption will be permitted only at licensed establishments, while individuals hosting private gatherings must obtain an online liquor permit. Officials have warned of strict action against violators.
The election schedule for the NMC begins with nomination filing from December 23 to December 30. Scrutiny will be held on December 31, followed by the last date for withdrawal on January 2. Election symbols will be allotted on January 3. Polling will take place on January 15, with vote counting on January 16.
With the MCC in effect, new announcements and violations of election norms are prohibited. Candidates have been asked to adhere strictly to guidelines, while voters have been urged to stay informed, celebrate responsibly, and participate actively in shaping Nagpur’s future through their vote.
