SWAHA – Centre of Excellence (CoE), Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur, in association with the National Institute of Women, Child and Youth Development (NIWCYD) and DRI KVK Ambajogai, is organizing a two-day Workshop and Millet Expo titled ‘Swanubhuti 2025’ on December 19–20, 2025.
The workshop will be inaugurated on December 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Chemical Engineering Department, VNIT. On the same day, the ‘Shri Anna Utsav’ will be held at 5:30 p.m. Representatives of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), women entrepreneurs from self-help groups, and experts from the millet sector will come together to share their experiences, opportunities, and initiatives.
It may be noted that the year 2023 was celebrated by the Government of India as the “International Year of Millets.” In this context, millets have been given the new name “Shri Anna.” The millet group includes cereals such as sorghum (jowar), pearl millet (bajra), kodo millet, little millet (kutki), finger millet (ragi/nachni), and barnyard millet (bhagar).
Over the past few years, Swaha – Centre has been implementing various initiatives to increase millet productivity, develop innovative products suitable for human consumption as well as for livestock, and promote awareness about millet cultivation among farmers.
In line with these efforts, the Expo being organized at SWAHA– Centre, VNIT, will feature a range of stalls, live demonstrations, and interactive sessions related to millet production, processing, value addition, technological innovations, and rural entrepreneurship. Participating institutions will have the opportunity to showcase their products, tools, ideas, and experiences. This platform will be especially beneficial for farmer groups, self-help groups, entrepreneurs, and aspiring agri-entrepreneurs.
