Chikhaldara, the popular hill station in Amravati district known as the “Paradise of Vidarbha,” is witnessing an intense cold wave, with temperatures dropping sharply. In the early hours of Thursday, between 3 am and 5 am, the mercury dipped to 5°C, while the lowest temperature recorded this season has fallen to 3°C.The region has been experiencing single-digit temperatures for several days, keeping the entire area in the grip of severe cold.
The biting chill has forced both locals and tourists to bundle up in warm clothing, with many lighting fires to stay warm. Cold winds and early morning chill have made woollens necessary throughout the day.Over the past month, temperatures in Chikhaldara have steadily declined. According to Prof. Vijay Mangle, readings from the Sipna College weather station showed a low of 5°C early Thursday.
He added that minimum temperatures between 3°C and 9°C have been consistently recorded during midnight and early morning hours over the last 20 days.
