A high-level committee will be constituted to investigate multiple complaints raised by teaching and non-teaching staff of Dr. Ambedkar College, Deekshabhoomi, including allegations related to the withholding of benefits under the Assured Career Progression (ACP) scheme for teachers. The proposal to initiate the inquiry was approved at the Senate meeting of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) held on Saturday.
The proposal was presented by Senate member Nitin Kongre, who informed the House that faculty and non-teaching staff of the college have allegedly been subjected to mental and financial harassment over the past year. He stated that a female professor has filed as many as 20 complaints with the university. Despite the university administration issuing three notices to the college in this regard, no concrete action has been taken so far.
It was further alleged that promotion proposals under the ACP scheme were deliberately delayed and that a demand of ₹2 lakh was made to expedite the process. Kongre clarified that the individual who allegedly demanded the money was not associated with the college management.
Kongre also highlighted that non-teaching staff have reportedly faced prolonged salary delays and that several retirement cases have been kept pending. While the university administration stated that repeated communications had been sent to the college, Senate members questioned whether such correspondence alone amounted to ensuring “natural justice.”
Demanding stricter action, Kongre urged the university to appoint an inquiry committee to conduct a comprehensive investigation into all complaints and to initiate action against the acting principal if the allegations are found to be true.
