The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has delivered a power-packed performance across municipal councils and nagar panchayats in Nagpur district, emerging as the single largest force in a majority of towns, though the results also expose sharp pockets of resistance from Congress, Shiv Sena factions and Independents.
The BJP posted clear wins in key towns such as Wanadongri (20 seats), Saoner (19), Digdoh (18), Mowad (18) and Wadi (18), underlining its organisational strength at the grassroots. In Narkhed, the BJP secured 16 seats, while in Kalmeshwar (15), Borgaon–Tarodi Khurd (14), Kanhan-Pipri (14) and Kamptee (9), it emerged as a dominant player, though without sweeping mandates everywhere.
However, the verdict was far from one-sided across the district. Congress held its ground strongly in Kamptee (16 seats), Godhani Railway (10), Mauda (11) and Ramtek (7), while also sharing power in tightly fought contests like Mohpa (10–10) and Khapa (10–9). Butibori threw up the biggest surprise, where Others bagged 17 seats, reducing the BJP to just four, signalling strong local anti-establishment sentiment.
The split in regional parties was evident. The Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) dominated Ramtek (8) and Parseoni (7), while the NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) showed limited but strategic presence in places like Kalmeshwar (6) and Kamptee (4). The NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) made notable inroads in Digdoh (5) and Kondhali (4).
Overall, the results paint a complex political picture: a sweeping BJP expansion across semi-urban Nagpur, countered by strong local factors, Independents and opposition bastions. While the BJP clearly leads the civic scoreboard, the fractured mandate in several towns suggests that local leadership and issues remain decisive, setting the stage for intense political churn ahead.
