A minor college student was allegedly raped at Bal Udyan in the Seminary Hills area after befriending a youth near her college gate. The incident came to light after the victim was found to be four months pregnant, following which a case was registered at the Gittikhadan police station.
According to police, the 18-year-old student came into contact with the accused, identified as Akshay (30), in August this year near her college. He allegedly gained her trust by professing love and persuaded her to go out with him. The accused then took her on his Activa scooter to Bal Udyan at Seminary Hills, where he allegedly forced himself on her.After the incident, the accused reportedly dropped the girl near the college gate and went missing.
The victim later fell ill and consulted a doctor, where medical examination revealed that she was four months pregnant.She subsequently approached the Gittikhadan police and lodged a complaint.
Police have registered a case under rape and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and have launched an investigation.
