The Maharashtra State Waqf Board has issued orders to constitute advocate panels in all districts to deal with cases related to Waqf properties pending before various courts. As part of this initiative, a three-member advocate panel will be formed for Nagpur district. The office of the District Waqf Officer in Nagpur has started the appointment process and invited applications from eligible advocates. The last date for submission is December 29.
According to the Board, panel advocates will represent it in matters pending before District Courts, Judicial Magistrate First Class courts, Tahsildar courts, Sub-Divisional Officer courts, District Collector offices, and other revenue and judicial forums. In Nagpur, the panel will handle litigation related to Waqf properties across multiple legal and administrative platforms, ensuring coordinated representation.
Officials said that no advocate panel has existed in Nagpur so far, which has led to technical and procedural challenges for the district office while pursuing cases. The formation of a dedicated panel is expected to streamline legal processes and improve the timely handling of pending matters.
Nagpur District Waqf Officer Mohammad Rehan said advocates appointed to the panel would be paid a fixed honorarium as per prescribed rules. He added that the Board plans to include three advocates to strengthen legal representation and effectively present the Waqf Board’s stand.
Interested advocates have been asked to submit applications with required documents at the District Waqf Officer’s office in Ganjipeth, Nagpur, by December 29. The final selection will be made by the Chief Executive Officer of the Maharashtra State Waqf Board.
