The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is set to usher in the New Year with its third annual flower festival, Pushpotsav 2026, which will be held from January 1 to January 4 across the city. The festival aims to offer residents a vibrant blend of colour, fragrance and environmental awareness through specially curated public gardens.
The four-day event will be organised across 10 city gardens, all of which will remain open to visitors during regular garden hours. Each garden has been developed around a unique theme and will showcase elaborate floral arrangements featuring around 13 varieties of flowers, including chrysanthemums, bougainvillea, petunias, roses and other fragrant and multi-coloured blooms.
A major attraction of this year’s festival will be creative installations made from discarded materials under the ‘Waste to Wonder’ concept. These installations, including selfie points and artificial waterfalls, are designed to promote reuse, sustainability and environmental responsibility. The exhibition will also feature recreations of India’s national symbols using flowers and foliage, blending recreation with educational value.
According to Municipal Commissioner Dr Abhijit Chaudhari, the festival is intended to reconnect citizens with nature, reinforce the importance of environmental conservation and enhance the visual appeal of public gardens. The event is being organised under the guidance of Additional Commissioner Vaishnavi B, with extensive efforts by the civic garden department.
