The redevelopment of Nagpur Railway Station is progressing at a steady and encouraging pace, with major structural milestones already achieved and extensive finishing works currently underway. Spread across the East and West wings, the project is transforming one of Central India’s busiest railway hubs into a modern, passenger-centric station equipped with world-class infrastructure.
On the East Wing, the East Side Arrival Building (EW-1), comprising Basement, Ground and five upper floors, has completed slab casting up to the terrace level. Internal finishing works along with Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire-fighting (MEPF) services are currently in progress. Similarly, the East Side Departure Building (EW-2) has completed slab casting from basement to terrace level. Internal finishing works, MEPF services, installation of lifts and escalators, and flooring works are underway.
Significant progress has been achieved in the Unified Basement (EW-3), with dismantling of the existing East Side station building completed. Alteration works to the South Foot Over Bridge have been carried out, and foundation and slab casting works are complete. Vertical circulation works are also in progress.
On the West Wing, the basement structure (WW-3) has been fully completed and is planned to be handed over to the Division by September 2025 for development as surface parking. Internal finishing and MEPF works are presently in progress. The West Side Administrative Block (WW-4), a G+7 structure, has crossed major construction milestones with raft foundation completed and slab casting achieved up to the seventh floor.
Work has commenced on the refurbishment of the heritage building, with emphasis on careful preservation and restoration of architectural elements, ensuring that the historic character of Nagpur Railway Station is retained alongside modern development.
In addition, substantial progress has been made in Foot Over Bridge and concourse foundation works across multiple platforms, aimed at strengthening passenger movement and safety. With coordinated efforts on multiple fronts, the redevelopment of Nagpur Railway Station continues to advance steadily towards delivering a modern, efficient and passenger-friendly station that seamlessly blends heritage with contemporary design.
