The Social Security Branch (SSB) of the Crime Branch has busted a sex racket operating under the guise of an office in Pandit Malviya Nagar under Pratap Nagar police station limits and arrested the prime accused, while rescuing a woman victim.
The arrested accused has been identified as Amol Ashok Pachpor (46). Police said the illegal activity was being run from a duplex flat at Mouli Apartment, where Pachpor had put up a board reading “Marketing Job and Investment Plan” to evade suspicion and mislead residents and authorities.
Acting on a specific tip-off, the SSB team laid a trap by deploying a dummy customer. During the operation, a deal was allegedly fixed for ₹3,000, following which Pachpor was caught red-handed while accepting the money. A woman was rescued from the premises during the raid.
Preliminary interrogation revealed that the rescued woman had been lured into the racket due to severe financial distress. Police said her husband was addicted to alcohol and had abandoned the family, forcing her to seek means to support her children, during which she fell into the accused’s trap.
A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the law, and further investigation is underway to ascertain whether others are involved in the racket.
The operation was carried out by the SSB team led by Police Inspector Rahul Shire, with the participation of Woman Head Constable Arti Chouhan, NPC Sheshrao Raut, and police constables Ashwin Mange, Sameer Sheikh, Kunal Masram, and Kunal Bodkhe.
