A serious violation of the Model Code of Conduct has surfaced during the municipal elections in Ward No. 3 of the Asinagar Zone in Nagpur. It is alleged that students of Raj Gavai Public School, Sangharsh Nagar, were used for election campaigning under the cover of a tricolour flag rally, triggering strong objections from parents.
Kunal Premanand Janbandhu, election representative of AIMIM for North Nagpur, has lodged a formal complaint with the zone’s Election Officer, the Education Officer, and the District Council. Acting swiftly, the Municipal Corporation’s Election Officer issued notices to the school headmaster and two candidates—Sheikh Shabnam Iqbaluddin of Indian National Congress and Komal Suresh Talwekar of Shiv Sena—seeking immediate written explanations.
According to the complaint, campaigning was carried out on school premises, with candidates and party symbols present, and children allegedly made to chant political slogans—using the national flag as a pretext. The complainant has demanded a prompt, impartial inquiry, calling the act a punishable offence under election rules and education norms.
