Serious allegations of bogus voting surfaced from several prabhags in Nagpur on polling day, with voters claiming that ballots had already been cast in their names when they arrived at polling centres.
In Prabhag 25, Raju Sahare, assigned to vote at Prakash Krushi Vidyalaya, was shocked when the booth in-charge informed him that his vote had already been recorded. His name in the voter list carried two stars, marking him as a duplicate voter. Though such voters are required to fill a declaration form before voting, Sahare alleged that the bogus voter had already completed the formalities and left.
A similar incident was reported from Prabhag 26 in East Nagpur, where Rakesh Vishnuji Sonatakke was told by polling officials at St Xavier’s School that his vote had already been cast. Officials said another individual had signed against his name and advised him to file an objection.
In Wathoda, also in Prabhag 26, Akash Shivdas Dhole was denied his vote at the Municipal Upper Primary School after officials informed him that someone else had already voted using his identity. Dhole questioned how such bogus voters could be identified, especially when no CCTV cameras were installed at the polling centres.
Voters demanded stricter identity verification and stronger monitoring mechanisms to prevent impersonation. Election officials said complaints would be examined as per procedure.
