Technical glitches in electronic voting machines caused temporary disruptions at several polling centres in Nagpur, though voting later resumed after corrective measures were taken.
In Prabhag 26, at Arunodaya (Om Nagar) Upper Primary School in Shailesh Nagar, the voting machine stopped functioning around 8 am, halting the polling process for nearly 15 minutes. Candidates’ representatives raised objections and sought clarification from polling officials. Authorities assured them that the lost time would be compensated by extending the polling hours. Voting later resumed smoothly.
Earlier in the day, voters at this centre had to wait patiently as officials worked to restore the system. While the disruption was brief, it added to voter anxiety, particularly among senior citizens who had arrived early to avoid crowds.
Similar minor machine-related issues were reported from other parts of the city, though officials maintained that no long-term disruption occurred anywhere. Replacement machines were kept ready as part of contingency planning, allowing polling to continue without major delay.
Election officials said all EVMs were thoroughly tested before polling, and occasional technical faults were promptly addressed. They assured voters that such glitches did not affect the integrity of the voting process.
Despite the interruptions, polling across Nagpur remained largely peaceful, with authorities urging voters to cooperate and remain patient in the event of technical issues.
