The first T20 match between India and New Zealand will be played on January 21 at the Vidarbha Cricket Association’s Jamtha Stadium. Online ticket sales for the match opened at 10 a.m. on Saturday, with all tickets selling out within just two hours.
Tickets were made available through the District by Zomato mobile application and the official website, district.in, with a limit of two tickets per person. Many fans had been logged in and waiting since early morning, and as soon as sales went live at 10 a.m., more than 60,000 people joined the virtual queue.
Within two hours, tickets across all price categories were declared houseful, leaving several fans disappointed. Ticket prices ranged from ₹650, ₹750, ₹2,000, ₹2,500, ₹4,000, ₹4,500, ₹6,000 to ₹7,000.
The seating capacity of the VCA Jamtha Stadium is 44,500, of which 33,000 tickets were released for sale.
With an international match being held in the city after a year, cricket fans across all age groups were eager to watch the game live. However, with tickets sold out, many fans will now have to watch the match on television.
Commenting on the ticket sales, VCA secretary Sanjay Badkas said, “Since ticket sales are conducted online, the VCA administration has no role in the process.”
