Nagpur City Police will organise the second edition of ‘Tiger Run – Run From Drugs, Run for Life’ on January 25 with the aim of spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promoting a healthy lifestyle among citizens.
The run will begin from the Police Headquarters premises. Addressing a press conference at Police Bhavan on Saturday, Police Commissioner Dr Ravinder Kumar Singal said that following the overwhelming response to the inaugural edition, this year’s Tiger Run is expected to be on a much larger scale.
“Last year, nearly 15,000 citizens participated. This year, we are expecting more than 20,000 participants to join the movement for good health and a drug-free society,” he said.
The event will feature four race categories — 3 km, 5 km, 10 km, and a 21 km half marathon. The half marathon will flag off at 5.30 am, followed by the 10 km run at 5.45 am, the 5 km run at 6.15 am, and the 3 km run at 6.45 am.
Dr Singal informed that winners across categories will receive a total cash prize of Rs 8.38 lakh. He also unveiled the official T-shirt and medal for the event during the press conference.
Interested participants can register online at www.tiger-run.in. An exhibition and T-shirt distribution will be held from January 22 to 24 at Alankar Sabhagruha, Police Headquarters, where experts will share information related to the run and the anti-drug campaign.
Joint Commissioner of Police Navin Chandra Reddy, Additional Commissioners of Police Vasant Pardeshi and Shivaji Rathod, along with other officials, were present at the press conference.
