The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has launched the ‘Udaan Khel Protsahan Yojana’ to provide financial support to talented local sportspersons who have won medals at national and international competitions. Introduced under the initiative of Municipal Commissioner Dr Abhijeet Chaudhari, the scheme offers grants ranging from ₹21,000 to ₹2 lakh.
Grant structure under the scheme
₹2 lakh:International medal winners at events such as the Commonwealth Games, World Cup, or Asian Championships
₹1 lakh: Athletes who participated in the Olympic, Asian or Commonwealth Games, and medal winners at national-level competitions
₹50,000: Medalists at Senior or Junior National Championships recognised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports
₹21,000:Participants in recognised national-level sports competitions
Eligible athletes must apply to the NMC Sports and Cultural Department by February 15. Applicants should have been residents within NMC limits for at least five years and must submit valid performance certificates from the 2024–25 season.
NMC Sports Officer Dr Piyush Ambulkar stated that the assistance is a one-time grant, which will be transferred directly to the athlete’s bank account. Applications can be submitted online through the official NMC website or in person at the department.
