The Nagpur Rural Police’s Anti-Narcotics Squad arrested two men and seized Mephedrone (MD) valued at ₹1.19 lakh during a late-night operation near Butibori on the Nagpur–Chandrapur highway.
Acting on suspicion while patrolling the area, the team intercepted two individuals standing near Wakeshwar Phata at around 10:10 pm on January 25, 2026. After following due legal procedures and conducting a search in the presence of independent witnesses, officers recovered 23.84 grams of Mephedrone, a prohibited synthetic drug.
Police also seized a mobile phone and a motorcycle from the accused. The total value of the confiscated contraband and property is estimated at ₹2.34 lakh.
The arrested accused have been identified as:
• Shubham Vamanrao Dhoble (29)
• Jayesh Rajesh Nagarale (19)
Both are residents of Chandramani Nagar in Ajni, Nagpur.
A case has been registered at Butibori Police Station under Sections 8(c), 22(b), and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and the offence is recorded as Crime No. 54/2026. The accused have been taken into custody, and investigators are probing the source of the drugs and possible links to a wider distribution network.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Harssh Poddar (Nagpur Rural), with guidance from Additional Superintendent of Police Anil Maske and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Bhagyashree Dhirbassi. Officers and personnel from the Anti-Narcotics Squad and Butibori Police Station participated in the raid.
Police said intensified enforcement against drug trafficking in Nagpur rural areas will continue.
