Nagpur: In a significant crackdown under Operation Thunder, the Crime Branch Unit 5 seized 5 kg of ganja and arrested four individuals on the Nagpur–Bhandara Highway near Kapasi, falling under the jurisdiction of Pardi Police Station. The early-morning operation, conducted between 3:50 am and 6:50 am on January 30, was led by PI Vinayak Golhe.
Acting on secret intelligence, the team intercepted a silver Toyota Innova (MH31 CR 3747) during patrolling and found the contraband concealed inside the vehicle. Police also recovered cash, mobile phones, and other materials, taking the total value of the seized property to ₹6,47,880.
The accused were identified as Faizan Firoz Ansari (26), Ahmar Ahmed Khan (32), Mohammad Shahid Anwarul Haq (29) and Firdos Khan (40), all residents of Kamthi in Nagpur. During questioning, the suspects confessed that the seized ganja had been sourced from a man known as Ravi Bhai, a resident of Katabanji in Odisha, who is currently absconding.
Pardi Police have registered a case under Sections 8(c), 20(b)(ii)(B) and 29 of the NDPS Act. Further investigation is underway, and efforts are on to trace the absconding supplier.
