A late-night celebration at a café in the Nandanvan area turned violent after a dispute between two groups of youngsters escalated into a physical clash, followed by an alleged arson attack in the early hours of Tuesday, February 3.
Police said several young men and women were attending a midnight party at the café when an argument broke out around 2 am. The verbal altercation soon intensified into a fight, creating panic at the spot. Amid the chaos, one group allegedly set the café on fire and fled the scene.
The complaint was filed at Nandanvan Police Station by Rishikesh Rajesh Waghmare (26), a resident of Plot No. 552, near Gautam Vachanalaya, Sirsapeth, Reshimbagh, Nagpur.
Based on the complaint, police have named Faizal Sheikh (21), a resident of Mahindra Nagar, Galli No. 5, near Rani Durgavati Chowk, Nagpur, along with 7 to 8 unidentified associates, as accused in the case.
Officials confirmed that the incident occurred at the specified date, time, and location mentioned in the complaint. A case is in the process of being registered, and further legal action is underway. Police have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the remaining suspects.
While no injuries have been reported so far, the café is believed to have suffered considerable property damage. Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the area and recording statements from witnesses to determine the exact sequence of events.
