The (ATS) on Sunday launched a large-scale search operation at nearly 21 locations following specific intelligence inputs about suspected extremist activities.
The coordinated raids are being carried out across the districts of Yavatmal and Ahilyanagar. In Yavatmal, searches are underway at 14 sites in the Pusad and Umarkhed areas, while seven additional locations are being covered in Ahilyanagar as part of the ongoing probe.
Earlier in January, the arrested Idhu Islam from Nagpur in connection with an alleged religious conversion racket. He is believed to be a close associate of Chhangur Baba. The arrest was conducted jointly by local police along with the Maharashtra ATS and UP ATS. Officials stated that Idhu Islam allegedly played a significant role in managing funds and logistics for the network.
In October last year, in a key development in the Pune ISIS module case, the Maharashtra ATS, in coordination with Pune Police, conducted extensive searches across several parts of the city. According to an official statement, the ATS carried out searches and inquiries at the residences and offices of 19 suspects on October 9, 2025, in areas including Kondhwa, Khadak, Khadki, Wanwadi, and Bhosari.
The case is linked to the arrest of multiple individuals suspected of being part of a sleeper ISIS module operating in Maharashtra. The accused were allegedly involved in radicalisation, recruitment, and the fabrication of explosive devices as part of a broader terror conspiracy.
During the operation, teams from ATS Mumbai and Pune Police conducted simultaneous searches to gather digital evidence, documents, and communication devices believed to be connected to the suspected network. Several individuals were taken in for questioning, though officials have not yet confirmed any new arrests or seizures.
