A routine visit to a pet clinic in Nagpur turned violent after a youth allegedly assaulted a veterinary assistant and threatened to kill the doctor when his pet cat refused to take prescribed medication.The incident took place in the Pratap Nagar area. The injured assistant, Shubham Vinod Dandge (22), is employed at Precise Pet Clinic and Accessories on Vidya Vihar Road. According to police, the accused, Pranay Jaiswal (25), had brought his Persian cat for treatment on February 17 and was reportedly upset when the animal did not swallow the medicine.Police said the accused returned to the clinic the following day and allegedly insisted that the staff administer the medicine. When Dandge was unable to do so, the situation escalated.
The accused allegedly abused and assaulted the assistant, causing injuries and damaging the stethoscope he was wearing. He also allegedly issued death threats to the clinic’s doctor, triggering panic among staff.Other employees intervened to defuse the situation. Acting on the doctor’s complaint, police have registered a case under relevant sections pertaining to assault, verbal abuse and criminal intimidation. Further investigation is underway.The incident has sparked concern over rising instances of aggression against medical and veterinary professionals in the city, even in routine treatment matters.
