The city police have announced comprehensive traffic restrictions and diversions ahead of the President of India’s scheduled visit to the Brahma Kumaris Vishwashanti Sarovar at Jamtha on February 25, 2026. With several high-profile dignitaries expected to attend the programme, authorities anticipate significant vehicular pressure on Wardha Road and surrounding routes.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Lohit Matani has issued the notification under Sections 115, 116 and 117 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, read with the Government of Maharashtra notification dated May 19, 1990. The traffic order will be effective from February 25 to February 26, 2026.
Heavy Vehicle Movement Regulated
To avert congestion and minimise the risk of accidents on Wardha Road, the movement of heavy vehicles will be diverted and regulated at multiple points:
• Heavy vehicles travelling via Dongargaon Toll Naka towards Nagpur, Jabalpur and Bhandara will be diverted left at Dongargaon towards Gumgaon and further routed through Samruddhi Zero Mile Circle as required.
• Vehicles approaching via Butibori towards Nagpur, Jabalpur and Bhandara will be diverted from Butibori through Dattala village and then via Samruddhi Zero Mile Circle.
• Traffic coming from Amravati towards Nagpur on the Samruddhi Expressway will be halted at Samruddhi Zero Mile Circle or Vrindavan Cutting during the VVIP movement.
• Vehicles arriving from Panjari Toll Naka will be stopped at the toll plaza. However, those proceeding towards the Samruddhi Expressway may be allowed, subject to temporary halts during the President’s arrival.
• Traffic moving from Panjari towards Wardha will be diverted via Samruddhi Zero Mile Circle, Dattala village and Butibori.
• Vehicles travelling from Nagpur towards Wardha will be diverted or stopped at designated points depending on real-time traffic conditions.
Police officers deployed at key junctions have been authorised to regulate, divert or halt traffic as necessary during the movement of the President and other dignitaries.
Awareness and Public Notification
The Traffic Branch has been instructed to ensure wide publicity of the restrictions through loudspeakers, email communication and other suitable channels. Announcements will be made in advance on Wardha Road using megaphones to alert commuters.
Copies of the notification will be displayed at all police stations in Nagpur city, the Tehsil and District Collector offices, the Municipal Corporation office, Sitabuldi Railway Station, transport association offices, Chhatrapati Square, in front of Hotel Pride, and other prominent public locations.
The notification has also been published in the Maharashtra Government Gazette and will appear in local newspapers. The order was formally issued on February 23, 2026, under the signature and seal of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Nagpur City.
Citizens have been urged to plan their journeys in advance and cooperate with authorities to ensure smooth traffic management during the high-profile visit.
