Nagpur: A potentially dangerous situation unfolded at Dattawadi Police Station on Amravati Road when a police staffer, stepping out for water late at night, spotted a highly venomous Russell’s viper (Ghonas) within the premises.
Startled by the sudden sighting, the employee immediately alerted fellow staff members, leading to brief panic in the station. The team promptly contacted Akash Meshram, an active member of the Vidarbha Sarpamitra Samiti, for assistance.
Responding without delay, Meshram reached the Wadi Police Station around 2 a.m. Despite the darkness and the snake’s aggressive nature, he managed to safely capture the Russell’s viper after considerable effort.
The police personnel expressed their gratitude to Sarpamitra Akash Meshram for his timely intervention and expertise. The snake was later released into its natural habitat, ensuring both public safety and wildlife protection.
